In 1996,on a Friday in February,a fourteen-year-old boy walked into my son's junior high school, took out the gun he

had hidden in his coat, and killed two students and a teacher. Our small community was shattered. The following

Monday, school was in session for students who Omega Replica

Watches wanted to come, and I decided to go to the school, just to be there. There were a few more mothers, some

policemen and others from the community who had the same idea. We hugged kids, let them talk and cry — whatever we

could do to comfort them. They were like little zombies, still in shock, full of fear and hurt. What I noticed most

was an emptiness in their eyes. The innocence and enthusiasm that normally radiated from the faces of those children

were gone.

I continued volunteering at the junior high for the rest of the school year. In October, the school hired me as the

community resources director so I could go on working with the children at the school. Lunchroom duty was part of my

job, and I made it a point to smile at the students, talk to them and laugh with them. I wanted to be a positive

force in a place that was threatening to sink under the weight of negative emotions.

Then right before Christmas break, only ten months after the first shooting, the unthinkable happened. Another boy

from the junior high went home and shot his sister, his mother and himself. The community was utterly devastated.

The fragile confidence we had worked so hard to build was destroyed. Our entire community was numb with grief. The

emptiness I had seen in the children's eyes spread to the adults as well. I didn't know if we would be able to

recover.

Over the holidays,! wept and prayed. I have always found comfort and inspiration in prayer, and during that dark

time, an idea came to me. I wanted to do something to fill the emptiness I saw all around me. What if everyone, the

whole town, focused on virtues? The idea was very specific and yet simple. First, get everyone thinking about

virtues. Then, start encouraging everyone to look for the virtues in their lives — in others and Audemar Piguet Replica in themselves.

Next and most important , teach people to acknowledge the virtues they saw around them. I didn't know if it would

work, but I knew I had to try.

I decided to start with four virtues ; compassion, respect, responsibility and tolerance. I had 150 signs made —

the virtues and their definitions in bold black lettering on white sheets. My plan was to put up the signs at school

and then have the children help me put more signs in all the local store windows. I wanted to flood the community

with some-thing positive, to raise community awareness of what was important — what was ultimately true — in life.

The key to business success largely depends on two main factors, good leadership and effective management. Just in case you are not yet informed, I want you to know that they are two different things. Leadership and managements are two words that people, especially those in the line of business, usually interchange the meaning. This fault is sometimes the cause of fall down of some enterprises. Applications and approaches being used for each are distinct, that if you don't to which one they should be assigned, chances are high that you will end so messed up.

Leadership and management are both skills that an organization should possess, courtesy of a chosen leader, with the support of its personnel. Good leadership can be attained through practice while effective management is learned through a course. Some good leaders are born, managements is achieve by consulting management consultants. See, it is not just in dictionary that the two terms differ.

Leadership is when you guide the organization into a result that your group has agreed upon. You and the rest of the team have a defined understanding to determine the ability and to articulate visions and goals. Leadership is said seen just as a facet of successful manager. It usually works on precedence for strategic planning and management and long-term success.

On the other hand, management is the planning and organizing of projects and operations, allocating resources to minimize costs and maximize benefits, directing practices and procedures, establishing controls to measure the effectiveness and efficiencies, and motivating subordinates. Management is concerned with present activities and the immediate results of those activities. Generally, the task of management is a lot heavier than that of leadership.

A leader is the spearhead of the group going to a direction. And once they've found the direction, manager will take over to have consistency and make the group prosper after being established. Managers are incremental, while leaders are radical. Manager's decision are usually based on the book or ethics that every members constructed but leaders decide based on their intuitions.

But still, one cannot live without the other. Management won't take effect without the presence of the other. A leadership without management will only give you a short-time pleasure because more probable than not, your organization will fall as soon as the way you succeed. Management without leadership also goes the same way. You may have the right ingredients so you can continue, but you don't have the authority to make them all happen. There is no such mission, vision and goal to follow so you can have a defined direction.

When good leadership is combined with effective management, you can set a direction and be able to manage the resources the way you want. Not only that, you will arrive to your destination the way you have planned and wanted it.
